About Maggie’s Checkup
Maggie’s Checkup is an independent publication for women past 55 who got waved off about their own health — by a doctor, by the internet, by menopause advice that all seems aimed at women a decade younger. We publish plain-English guides and a regular email letter about what’s actually going on after 55 and, most of all, how to get taken seriously in the exam room.
Everyone else in this category is the clinic. We’re the friend who gets you ready to walk in and not get brushed off — and points you toward care that listens.
Who Maggie is — and isn’t
Maggie is the voice of this publication: the friend who’s been around the block, knows how the system works, and is a little fired up on your behalf. She is a brand character — not a real person, and not a doctor. We say this plainly because being straight with you is the whole point of the brand. She’s how we write; the facts are checked the old-fashioned way.
The rules we hold ourselves to
- Educational information only — we don’t diagnose, prescribe, or replace your provider. We help you have a better conversation with one.
- No miracle cures, ever. You’ll read “better” and “worth asking about” here — never “fixes” or “reverses.”
- No first-person product testimonials from Maggie — she’s a character; she doesn’t have a body. When we reference experience, it’s what real women in this community report.
- If we ever earn a commission from a link, we say so, every time. The details live on our disclosure page.
- We never sell your email. Period.
